Stephen M. Garcia

In 1994, after practicing criminal trial advocacy, Stephen M. Garcia switched to a civil trial practice. His practice focused on cases including medical malpractice, elder abuse, insurance bad faith, products liability and class actions. Mr. Garcia has also taken on the trucking industry, handling cases involving serious commercial trucking accidents involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death.

Mr. Garcia has been successful in cases against major corporations such as Tenet Healthcare, sun Healthcare Corporation, Hewlett Packard, Allstate Insurance Company, State Farm Insurance Company, Countrywide Home Loans, Pennzoil, The County of Los Angeles, British Airways, United Airlines, AT&T;, Motorola, and Medtronics.

Mr. Garcia was the principal of the Law Offices of Stephen M. Garcia from 1987 through 2001 when Wilkes & McHugh purchased it. He then became the managing attorney for the Western United States. In 2003, he opened The Garcia Law Firm.

Accomplishments

• In 2009, he was a recipient of the California Lawyer of the Year (CLAY) award for his work in elder law by the California Lawyer Magazine
