Those traveling in Palm Beach County recently were probably aware of an overturned livestock trailer hit by an 18-wheeler – killing the big rig truck driver and 100 various types of farm animals.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the livestock trailer lost control of his vehicle close to midnight on U.S. Highway 27, causing the truck to jackknife. He saw the big rig heading his way and tried to stop it by signaling with a flashlight. The driver either could not stop or did not see the smaller truck.
The southbound lanes remained closed over night and through the morning while workers cleaned the debris. Animal control officials were also at the scene gathering the animals that survived the crash.
The accident is under investigation at this time.
